Best Corn Maze For Families in the Lynchburg, Virginia Area

It's Fall time in the Lynchburg and Bedford, Virginia region. This area has alot to offer families who love getting outdoors. From viewing the colorful changing of the leaves on the Blue Ridge Parkway, to Fall Festivals, and everything inbetween - there is something for everyone. One of the classic attractions during the Fall season is corn mazes!

Corn mazes are fun for all ages and a great way to celebrate the Fall season, so we wanted to create our own this year here on the Blue Ridge Lamb & Wool farm. When we bought our new farm just past Johnson's Orchard here in Bedford County, we had a large empty field with road frontage on Sheep Creek Rd. We think it's the perfect location to host a corn maze!

There are several corn mazes within driving distance of Lynchburg, Virginia but we wanted to offer something really unique. We decided on a D-Day corn maze theme this year because Bedford is home to the National D-Day Memorial - and is a way to honor the sacrifice of all who fought, and died, for our community on that historic day during WWII. From the D-Day memorial website:

"The loss of the “Bedford Boys” is widely thought to be the highest per capita sacrifice made by any American community on D-Day. For that reason, Congress warranted the Memorial’s establishment in Bedford, Virginia, recognizing Bedford as emblematic of American homefront communities. Additionally, it is worth noting that approximately 100 other Bedford residents died during WWII in other battles and other theaters."

So why do we think our D-Day Corn Maze is the best corn maze for families in the Lynchburg, Virginia area (and beyond)? Here are our top reasons:

  1. It's About History
The Blue Ridge Lamb & Wool D-Day Corn Maze is a historical reminder of the sacrifices made and the victory won on D-Day in WWII. This is a great way to educate your kids on the local significance this war had on the Bedford community and on the generation that endured WWII.

  2. Two Mazes In One
Alot of corn mazes are long, a little too long for little kids and maybe even grandparents. So we made the D-Day Corn Maze two-in-one. There is a shorter maze (0.4 mile) that is easier for small kids and older folks, and then the longer maze (with stations that you can navigate to finish your punch card).

  3. Never Get Lost!
Our corn maze comes with a convenient GPS maze that you can use to navigate the maze with your smartphone. When you arrive, grab a punch card and scan the QR code to begin.

  4. Near Apple Orchards and Mountains
Our corn maze is located on Sheep Creek Rd just past Johnson's Orchard and is within a short drive from Gross's Orchard. Check out their hours and pick apples before you come. We are also a short drive from the Peaks of Otter and the Blue Ridge Parkway which boasts some great family friendly hikes, like the Johnson Farm Trail and the path around Abbot Lake at the Peaks of Otter Lodge and Restaurant.

  5. Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins
Whether you are looking for traditional orange carving pumpkins, or the more eclectic and uniquely pastel-colored decorative pumpkins, we have a great assortment of pumpkins to choose from.

  6. Farm Animal Petting Zoo
Visiting the Blue Ridge Lamb & Wool farm means getting to meet some of our farm animals. Pet a bunny, feed a duck or chicken, and get a picture with the sheep. There are lots of furry and feathery friends to meet!

  7. Games and More
Besides the corn maze you can also enjoy our complementary games like: pumpkin tic-tac-toe, hay bale bull roping, corn hole, foam axe throwing, and more. Plus we'll have fall snacks for sale!

  8. Reserve For Private Parties
Reserve the Blue Ridge Lamb & Wool 2024 Corn Maze for your private Fall festival or event. This is perfect for birthday parties, company celebrations, and much more! Our private farm rental includes access to our 2024 Corn Maze, picnic tables with umbrellas, a set up area for your food, small farm animal meet & greet, and various games for people of all ages.

So whether you are in Bedford, Roanoke, Lynchburg, Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell County, or beyond, come on out to the Blue Ridge Lamb & Wool D-Day Corn Maze and make a Fall fun day of it. Our 2024 corn maze will be open September 27 - November 3 on Fridays (4pm - 6pm), Saturdays (10am - 6pm), and Sundays (12 noon - 6pm).
